of the District Department of Internal Affairs, they were trying to capture a
local resident, suspected to be q Chechen fighter taking part in military actions

to our information, the servicemen in masks in two UAZ cars accompanied by an
armoured carrier drove to the house of Tamerlan, a surgeon by profession (his
surname is unknown).
When they were trying to get into the house, Tamerlan
opened fire. According to his neighbours, the surgeon had been captured earlier
and aftern paying a ransom he was set free.
The exchange of fire lasted
a few minutes. People, mainly the residents of the sector 12, who knew and respected
Tamerlan, began to gather. Having seen a crowd of the people living nearby, the
assailants hastily left the place and disappeared.
